I made it out for a hunt with a good friend of mine Chuck Action for a hunt down in Southern Maryland. He gave me a great tour of the local area and then took me to a spot where I could dig a few relics. Here are a few pictures of my finds. The second picture show the star in the base of a Washington Arsenal made bullet.

Well, after missing DIV VIII due to having to return to Iraq, I was way ready to do some digging by the time DIV IX came around. It turned out the be a great hunt. It all started when I was surprised at the pre-hunt meeting by John and Rose K. Apparently, at the last dig I missed, they put out a display that folks could donate to with relics they found during the hunt. This display was to be presented to me at DIV IX.  Well, somehow they managed to get (Ret) Brigadier General Jack Mountcastle to present me with the display. There were actually two sets of displays with one being donated by the group and one containing donations from private collections.  One of the individual displays was donated by Buddy Andes and his private collection. Buddy Andes is a real legend in the field of relic hunting and it is an honor to have received his donation. It was a very humbling experience for me and I will never forget the great people who went to great links to make it happen. I also wanted to give a special thanks to Chuck Action and Tim Garton who were both instrumental in making it happen.

Here is the link to the pictures.

Below are my finds from DIV VI in VA. I had a chance to detect the historic Stonemen's Switch site located near Falmouth, VA. The 1st pic is a group shot of the finds. The site had been hunted hard for several years, so the finds were a little slim. But, I did manage to pull out a sweet VA state seal button. This is a Confederate button and has a very rare back mark of "Schuyler NY". The button is also gilted with silver instead of the normal gold.

Here are some pics of the holes that we dug and the holes other diggers were digging. Brad is holding a brick that was recovered from one of the huts.
